The most popular list changes over time, but these are currently the most popular diet fads or myths out there. Many changes have been made to what was once considered to be sound dietary advice. the most popular diets on the market: Atkins, Jenny Craig, Ornish, NutriSystem, Slim Fast, South Beach, Subway, Sugar Busters!, Weight Watchers and ZoneYour body naturally slows your metabolism while you sleep, you are still burning calories. Foods that take longer to digest actually burn more calories in the process of their own digestion.

Zone Diet – The Zone Diet has consistently remained one of the most popular diet search terms over the last 4 or 5 years. It is so much easier to eat fresh foods paying attention to portion sizes and giving in to the ocassional decadent delicacy along with exercise.

The most popular diet choice for men is the good old low-carb/high-protein Atkins approach. A quick-fix diet isn’t typically successful in the long-run for either men or women. The best diet plan is the one you can stick with.

The body metabolizes carbohydrates first; cut down on carbs, and your body will burn fat. So you can eat all the protein and fat you want and still shed pounds.

As studies have come out promoting chocolate as a supplement to a healthy diet, the chocolate diet has come out as well. This diet focuses on decreased calorie consumption with liquid chocolate diet shakes. It acts as a vitamin replacement, and although effective in the short term, has not been found to stimulate metabolism or burn fat, as the diet claims. Rather, any weight lost is a direct effect of decreased caloric intake.

The second is the Negative Calorie Foods Cookbook. It offers three negative calorie diet programs and includes a great negative calorie food cookbook. It’s designed to help increase your sluggish metabolism.

Juice diets or the grapefruit diet: fruit is so yummy, isn’t it? Until that’s all you get for a couple of days. You will be irritable, cranky, and possibly get a good case of the runs. You will lose weight and possibly a few friends. These diets are again for short-term immediate results and quick awesome regain of weight. They will not put you on the road to long-term, reasonable, and healthy weight loss and maintenance.

Diet pills are dangerous, even if they are herbal, and they simply do not address the issues that cause you to overeat. Beware illegal pharmacies giving prescriptions over the Internet. At best you will get a fake placebo for a lot of money, at worst you will harm your heart or have a stroke due to the stimulant effects of many of these drugs.

Eating sensibly has never been so easy with diets like the GI diet, Weight Watchers and Slimming World. They provide healthy eating guidelines for life and don’t leave you feeling denied.

Foods that are low in calories, but high in fiber and other vitamins, will keep you satisfied and healthy while you lose weight.

Danish Quality Diet was tested and approved by Danish hospitals and clinics and was used to help thousands of people to lose weight. The goal of Danish Quality diet is to help a patient lose at least 10 pounds in 13 days.

The National Institutes of Health and university medical centers around the nation have spent many years and millions of dollars to test the Atkins diet versus the South Beach, the American Heart Association diet versus the Zone.

Detox diets – These diets are based on the theory that our bodies are continually subjected to toxins such as pesticides, food additives, high fat foods and alcohol. Detoxification takes these toxins out of the body. The length of the diet can vary but the main food groups included are organic fruit, vegetables, juices, herbal teas, rice and drinking lots and lots of water.

Our friends the celebrities, well we feel like they are. They are so much a part of lives we can hardly make it through the day without seeing one of them in a magazine, on TV, or on the internet. We look and wonder what it would be like to be them. What it would be like to have their money, clothes, car, and jewelry. But most often we wonder what it would be like to have their looks and their bodies. At least one time we all have said “If I looked like…than I would be rich and famous”. Come on, you haven’t… really. You are probably thinking it right now! So we go searching for the most Popular Diets in Hollywood to find out which diet our celebrity used to get fit and trim.

Here are some of the Popular Diets in Hollywood:

The South Beach Diet- Great Diet program you can get customized diets, recipes and food guides, weight tracker tools, and news letters. This diets works by utilizing “3 phases” in the first phase you will have to completely cut out carbohydrates. That’s 2 weeks without bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, or baked goods. No fruit, even. You also won’t eat candy, cake, cookies, ice cream, or sugar for two weeks. Also, no beer or alcohol. Yikes! I don’t know about you but that’s seems pretty rough to me. On top of this in order to keep receiving support from the website you need to pay for a membership. You will need to pay 5 dollars per week in order to have access to the tools you’ll need to stay on track. After 2 months you will have paid after one year you will have spent 0 in membership fees. I know gyms that are cheaper than that.
The GI Diet- Developed by Dr. David Jenkins who is a professor of nutrition at the University of Toronto. The GI (glycemic index) measures the speed at which foods are broken down by the body to form glucose, the body’s source of energy. High G.I. foods break down quickly and leave you looking for the next food fix. Low G.I. foods break down more slowly and leave you feeling fuller, longer. It is these low G.I. foods that form the core of the diet. Foods are categorized by 3 colors red, yellow, and green. After you purchase the series of 3 books for you will be able to understand how to categorize each food according to its color. By eating the appropriate colored foods in the correct proportion you will lose weight.

I’ve found one product that is easy to implement and if you can cook some simple recipes you will be well on your way to losing weight like the and it won’t cost you nearly as much. Most Popular Diet Pills

April 9th, 2010 Posted in Popular Diets Tags: , , ,

If you are overweight, it is important that you get off those extra pounds. It is imperative for your health to lose the weight. There are many nasty health problems that can occur when you are overweight. It can be difficult to lose weight, which is where diet pills can help. They can give you an extra boost as you try to lose those stubborn pounds. If you are looking for good diet pills, here is a look at some of the most popular diet pills out there today.

Hoodia Diet Pills

Hoodia Gordonii are some of the most popular diet pills. In fact, there are many pills that actually include this ingredient in them. This substance actually comes from a plant that is a whole lot like a cactus. It helps to suppress the appetite and is approved for this use. However, it is not approved by the FDA as a product for weight loss, although many people use it for this use.

Xenical Diet Pills

A drug that is much like Alli is Xenical. It is actually known as the prescription strength version of this same weight loss pill. It provides stronger results than the Alli pills do, and only is available by prescription. This is only for people who are obese, and since it is so strong, there are various side effects that can come with the product.

Clenbuterol Diet Pills

Clenburterol are also quite popular today. The nickname of these pills are Size Zero. The reason it is called this is because people who use the pills often get very small. Although many people have tried to use these pills, they are not necessarily safe. They are designed for horses and not made for humans. There are various side effects that can be caused by these pills, so beware. They may not be the best pills for you to take for weight loss.

Ma Huang Diet Pills

Don’t be caught by this diet pill. This is just another name for ephedra. You don’t want pills with this ingredient in it because it is illegal here in the United States. If you see pills with this name, you will want to avoid them.

Alli Diet Pills

Alli is still one of the most popular weight loss pills out there today. It is a fat blocker and is available over the counter. The FDA has approved it, which definitely is a bonus. It can help to keep you from taking in as much fat as you normally would, which allows you to lose weight. Of course you also will need to make sure you exercise and eat a reasonable diet. In fact, with Alli you are only allowed to eat so much fat while you are taking it so that the pills will work for you. Many people have reported great results with these pills, even though the diet part can be a bit restrictive for you.

Of course just because diet pills are popular doesn’t mean they work wonderfully. You want the best diet pills, not the most popular ones. So don’t just look at popularity. Look for pills with quality ingredients that get results. This way you don’t waste your money and you only purchase pills that will work for you.

The Top 12 Most Bizarre Phobias!

March 28th, 2010 Posted in Phobias Tags: , ,

Are You Letting Your Fear Get The Best Of You?

You might have encountered someone who has a fear of flying – or it could be you who personally have a fear of flying. Basically, these phobias are something that people would have to deal with at one point or another.

By definition, a phobia is that irrational fear of a certain object, situation, person or activity. When you have a phobia of something, you will feel this anxiety because the thing that you are most fearful of is way beyond your control.

Another aspect of phobias which make it alarming is the fact that it can interfere with your daily life, which is exactly the reason why you do need to find an ‘antidote’ for such an anxiety disorder.

There’s an estimated 18% of the American adult population which is suffering from some kind of phobia. Now, there are actually three types of phobias which an individual may possess. First, there’s the simple phobia like fear of spiders or heights.

Second, there’s the social phobias wherein you are fearful of being in a social situation that may cause you humiliation. Third, there’s the agoraphobia which is defined as the fear of being away from some place safe.

In addition, there are the bizarre phobias which involve a person being fearful of something that is perfectly normal for other human beings. Nobody really knows the reason behind the development of phobias but they can be triggered by a traumatic experience.

In addition, there are the bizarre phobias which involve a person being fearful of something that is perfectly normal for other human beings. Nobody really knows the reason behind the development of phobias but they can be triggered by a traumatic experience.

The physical manifestations of a person suffering from a particular type of phobia include Pain disorders, breathlessness and anxiety attacks.

A Look At The Top 12 Most Unusual Phobias That People Have

But what if you fear is something that is perfectly natural for most people? Here, we will take a look at the top 12 most bizarre phobias that people have.

1. Phobia: Arachibutyrophobia:

Definition: Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of one’s mouth.

Yes, you heard it right. Although this fear may be worthy of a slot in a Saturday Night Live skit or an episode of “The Simpsons“, it is indeed a fear that actually exists.

For some people, the prospect of eating a peanut butter jelly sandwich may prove to be a challenging task.

This is because of the fear that they have of the peanut butter sticking to the roof of their mouth. One can only wonder what they would do in such a situation.

2. Phobia: Ephebiphobia

Definition: Fear of youth or teenagers.

This is one bizarre fear which actually has a more complex background. According to sociologists, one’s fear of the youth or teenagers may be attributed to the generation gap.

This is especially true when it comes to the segregation of the young and adult group in the American society.

What a person with ephebiphobia is actually fearful of is being rejected by teenagers, which is why they usually cover their fear with a permissive attitude towards them.

3. Phobia: Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia

Definition: Fear of long words.

The name of the phobia itself may battle the number of letters contained in the longest word – but it’s actually something that those who have a fear of long words would actually be wary of.

For one reason or another, there are individuals who have a fear of long words – the sight of which usually sends them into having a panic attack!

4. Phobia: Ithyphallophobia

Definition: Fear of erections.

Based from the part of the word that says ‘phallo‘, you may already have an idea that this particular phobia has something to do with the penis. And it’s exactly right.

Ithyphallophobia is defined as an unwarranted yet persistent fear of an erect penis. What’s surprising is that it is a type of phobia which is quite common.

Just as it is with any other type of phobia, being exposed to the thing which you fear most is the usual therapy for patients with this condition. The physical manifestation of this quite bizarre phobia is the occurrence of panic attacks.

So if you’re in the middle of having sex and you find that the sight of an erect penis causes you to have an anxiety disorder, chances are you do have this condition.

5. Phobia: Koumpounophobia

Definition: Fear of buttons.

According to the National Phobic’s Society, one in every 75,000 people is affected by this really bizarre fear of buttons. This usually occurs during one’s childhood and may or may not persist into adulthood.

The physical manifestations of this fear include being afraid to actually touch a button, or experiencing panic attacks at seeing buttons grouped together.

6. Phobia: Nomophobia

Definition: Fear of being disconnected from the rest of the world if you don’t have contact through mobile phone.

This is probably one common fear that the modern worker has – although the nature of the phobia itself is quite bizarre. Nomophobia refers to the fear of being out of mobile phone contact.

If you’re the type of person who gets all panicky at the thought of being somewhere where there’s no mobile phone coverage – or if you obsessively check whether your phone still has a full charge of batteries for fear of being disconnected, then you might have nomophobia.

7. Phobia: Papaphobia

Definition: Fear of the Pope.

Why someone would have a fear of a person who the Catholic Church deems to Holy, nobody really knows.

Papaphobia is definitely one of the most bizarre types of fear on our list – which is defined as fear of the pope or the papacy.

The physical manifestations of the fear include shortness of breath, nausea, sweating and that unusual feeling of dread. Aside from the ‘main man’ of the Catholic Church, someone who has papaphobia may also be fearful of the Catholic Church itself.

8. Phobia: Peladophobia

Definition: Fear of bald people.

Don’t confuse this bizarre fear with the fear of going bald, which is actually called phalacrophobia. This particular phobia is feeling anxiety at the thought of, or actually seeing a bald person.

9. Phobia: Scopophobia

Definition: Fear of being looked at.

What if the condition that you instantly assumed to being an introvert is actually a fear of being looked at or scopophobia? Some people do have an intense, often irrational fear of being looked at.

As such, they try to avoid crowded places and they usually feel unsettled if they think that the person behind or beside them is staring.

10. Phobia: Triskaidekaphobia

Definition: Fear of the number 13.

Did you know that even Adolf Hitler was famed to have a fear of the number 13? This is probably associated with the myth behind Friday the 13th – although this particular phobia is called paraskavedekatriaphobia.

If you experience anxiety attacks upon seeing the number 13 printed or written somewhere, and you consciously avoid things which have something to do with the number 13, then this might be a fear that you have.

11. Phobia: Trichophobia

Definition: Fear of loose hairs.
If you’re suffering from hair loss and a person freaks out once they see some loose strands on your shirt or even on the floor where you’re standing, don’t be offended. That person may be suffering from what is known as trichophobia or fear of loose hairs.

12. Phobia: Vomitophobia

Definition: Fear of vomiting.

Usually associated with eating disorders, vomitophobia is defined as the fear of vomiting. The fear can also be attributed with fear of being others who are vomiting, or being afraid of vomiting themselves.

The physical manifestation of this type of fear is that a person will stop going to parties, will avoid socializing and will steer clear of situations where they may encounter a person who is vomiting, or be in a situation where they themselves will vomit.
